New Studio

Platform Studios, Burntisland, Fife.

I recently shared that I was looking for a new studio space. After working from home while getting back to the bench and launching new work, I wanted to find somewhere easier for people to visit and discuss commissions. Sadly, there’s nothing suitable available in Dunfermline at the moment.

We’re also in the middle of moving house (for those who’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know this happens rather regularly, though hopefully this will be the last time… famous last words!). We’re staying in Dunfermline, but there won’t be space for a studio at the new place, which has spurred me on to find somewhere local again.

My mum, weaver Susie Redman, took on my Burntisland studio back in 2018 and has kindly offered me a space there once more. I moved back to Platform Studios last weekend and have been busy carting tools across and getting set up.

I’ve always loved this studio, its outlook across the Forth to Edinburgh, the high ceilings and big windows. It’s a Fife Historic Buildings Trust conversion of the old station buildings, now home to a row of beautiful, light-filled studios. It’s cosy and filled with the noise of the weaving loom, a sewing machine, and now my drills, hammers and polishers. I’m very happy to be back.
